36th, 'Teapot And Tea Things Tuesday', New Year:

Welcome to....

36th,  Teapot And Tea Things Tuesday

And I said to the man who stood at the gate of
the year: "Give me a light that I may tread
safely into the unknown!"  And he replied:
"Go out into the darkness and put your hand
into the hand of God. That shall be to you
better than a light and safer than a known way."

                                                                                                              Minnie Louise Haskins

A warm winter's welcome to all of you who have gathered for a cup of cheer today, whether it be tea, coffee, mulled cider (wine) or hot chocolate. I trust that you had a wonderful Christmas and look with anticipation to the new year. Let's sit awhile and catch up the events we best loved the last few weeks.  For me, it was having my daughter home from the East coast, sharing time with my son and fiance and the numerous phone calls from my son and his fiance from the West coast.

As I begin this new year there are many unknowns for me. We have decided, with heavy hearts that we must move from our home of only three years. Alot of time and energy and dreams have been invested in this house to make it our home but life changes and we must adapt.  Now complete, it is time to hand it over to some one else to enjoy and look for our next venture.

The new year has always been a time of closet and cobweb cleaning for me but this will be more extensive as I stage the house and start packing.  Don't worry my luvs, no teacup will be left behind, but evenually there will be fewer and fewer to share on Tuesday.  So TTTT may have a different flavour as the weeks go by.  I don't know how that may look at the moment.  We will both be surprised I am sure, but tea will always be served and your attendence most welcome.

I hope you will enjoy one of my favorite postings:

35th 'Teapot And Tea Things Tuesday'; Fitz and Floyd

Welcome to ...

35th, 'Teapot And Tea Things Tuesday'!

I love the Christmas-tide, and yet
I notice this, each year I live;
I always like the gifts I get,
But how I love the gifts I give!

                                                                      Carolyn Wells

W elcome one and all!  It is wonderful to have you drop in for a cup of steaming tea and a sweet treat.  Do find a cozy, comfy chair to settle into for  a wee break.  Are you still as busy as I with the festivities of this blessed season? Then all the better to sit and visit with the others. A gift to yourself and to us who enjoy your company.  I would love to know what gift was the most heartfelt of all, to you?

I want to share a very special teaset this week. It was a gift.  Mr R was on a business trip several winters ago, in New Brunswick, and stumbled upon a Christmas teapot. Being it was a few weeks after Christmas it was nicely marked down, so he made the purchase and brought it back to Ontario.  He thought finding the matching cream and sugar would be simple. But they were no where to be found, in the stores.  As the seasons changed he persisted in his quest and suceeded in finding it on Ebay, in time for that Christmas!  IT has been part of our Christmas traditions ever since.

A s time is short this week I simplified my tea table, adding a few new pieces to selected pieces from last week.

I thought they would add some sparkle to the tree
and hung them like icicles

Can you find the pickle??
You must search to find it!

Its behind the teapot

33rd 'Teapot And Tea Things Tuesday'; Teddy Bears At Tea:

Welcome to....
33rd , 'Teapot And Tea Things Tuesday'

Welcome kind ladies!  I do not have a tea table set for us this week.  I am out of town for a few days.  I decided to share a post from a year ago.

However, you can still join in the fun with Wanda and the other folks who stop by. Enjoy a cuppa of for me!

The wind is mischievously blowing the fluffy flakes of snow about this afternoon. Hither and yon like a game of tag they float gently almost settling on the ground only to be swept up by a jovial gust of wind to touch the top of a tree. Up and down, around and around they go to eventually settle with their friends who have been sidelined on the ground.

T his playfulness reminds me of the child-like awe that I sometimes struggle to bring to this season of joy. You may have some memories in the distant past that some how take on a new sting, or be missing a loved one, this time of year, too. Then now would be a good time to sit with a cuppa of your favorite tea, hot chocolate or latte and share the memories and the truths that you know in your heart and pause to savour them, nurture them lovingly like a child, so they will grow and heal that corner of your heart.

Isaiah 66:13
As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you;

Luke 2:10
But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.

The First Heavenly Night

To be inspired go to Spiritual Sundays here

Do you ever wonder how Mary and Joseph felt that first Christmas?
If there had been a white dove nesting on the rafters of that humble stable,
was she the first to sing a lullaby to baby Jesus?
I wish I could have been there!

This is my new favorite Christmas song.

Heavenly Night

Jesus was born in Bethlehem

There were some shepherds and wise men

And Mary and Joseph thanked the Lord

For bringing salvation in their little boy

And the white dove cooed

And the angels sang on high

Don’t you wish you could have been there

On that heavenly night

Jesus was born to set us free

He came to earth for you and me

And every Christmas I thank the Lord

For bringing salvation in His little boy

And the white dove cooed

And the angles sang on high

Don’t you wish you could have been there

On that heavenly night

                                                      Chorus

Heavenly night when Christ was born

Heavenly night

Heavenly night

Close your eyes and say a prayer

Pray for the children everywhere

Pray for the babies where soldiers fight

That they might know peace for one night

Let the white dove coo

Let the angles sing on high

And pray for peace for just one night

For one heavenly night

31st 'Teapot And Tea Things Tuesday'

Welcome to the

31st 'Teapot And Tea Things Tuesday'

Friendship is a cozy shelter
from life's rainy days.

As I have toured various sites in Blogdom there is no doubt that Christmas is on everyone's mind .Such amazing and creative displays in every genre and colour.  If you are lacking direction you will soon find something to inspire you.

We have had the tradition of decorating the tree, the mantle and the house on the first advent. Today (Sunday) is first Advent. But alas, everything is subject to change, even this most anticapated tradition. The main area of our home is to be painted and the painter is a week late in starting.  So instead of festive decorating we have been un-cluttering the house, hoping for an early start this week.  Anticipating the fun of next weekend.

At church today, as the first candle of the Advent wreath was lit we were reminded that it signifies "Hope" It is that hope that once anticipated, and now anticipates anew, the reign of an Anointed One, a Messiah, who will bring peace and justice and righteousness to the world.

How many rainy days have you experienced in your life? Who gave you shelter from the wet and cold on the darkest of nights?   A friend?  A friend who recognized your pain, because they had felt it too.  With a friend by your side you can Hope ..rise from the ashes, heal and create a new persona by the Grace of God.  Then it is your turn to provide shelter to someone else on their rainy day. Compassion takes root, and blooms when our hearts break with those things that break God's heart too.

Kelita has made her successful career of songwriting and singing of healing and hope to inspire us to do the same. Last week we attended her "Heart of a Woman" CD Release Benefit Concert. Proceeds to assist survivors of the child sex trade in Cambodia,
a charity near and dear to her heart.

A chorus from one of her songs:

Bella

Kindred spirits
Knit together
A tapestry embroidered with shame
But healing love will mend the broken hearted
And saving grace change your name

Kelita Haverland/Heart & Soul Music

I thank you for your patience as I finally come to the explanation of the theme of my 'Teapot and Tea Things Tuesday'.  Not that of Christmas, yet, but a time of preparation for  the season of Hope. My centrepiece is an orchid that was one of many that decorated the stage that night to symbolize the hope and healing there can be for these children, in Cambodia and in us.

I searched for china that complimented the
colour of the orchid and had an Asian feel.
Simplicity and elegance.

The serving plate actually is displayed with other plates in my guest room.
But for this occaision (after I will wash it) I will  press it into service.
The plate is hand painted by an aunt of my mom's
at the turn of the last century.

We think she purchased the plate
while travelling in Europe and brought it home
to paint.

A mother of pearl dragonfly has settled for a rest
by the milk and sugar

After every rain the sun appears

A peacock placemat under the orchid.
There was only one left at Homesence and
I just knew I would need it someday!
I may place it under the Limoges serving plate

As you gather at the tea table I hope and pray
that it is a place of 'shelter from the rain'.
I encourage you to meet the other guests and
enjoy your time and may it be a blessing.

Ready and waiting for you!

As you settle in, meet and greet, I will go to the kitchen and see what tidbit or two we can nosh on. (I'll post recipe later in the week)

"It is not that we have possibility in ourselves, but that God is a God of new things and so all things are possible"  Dennis Bratcher

 (Isa 42:9, Mt 19:26, Mk 14:36)

  Bella

I hope you come often and invite your  friends to come too.

Next week, I hope for a touch of Christmas, at Tea.
