Welcome To The 5th Teapot And Tea Things Tuesday:

Welcome to the 5th,'Teapot And Tea Things Tuesday'!.., (Mr. Linky is now live once again below)..,

T W I N S !!

You may have guessed by now that one of my passions is tea and all things related to tea. I have another passion ... babies. I have embarked on a new career path in the last several months.  I am being certified to be a doula or birth coach.  Being present at the birth, encouraging mom to breastfeeding and newborn care seems to be so natural.  Nothing is quite as rewarding for me than to be present when a new family is being born, when a new baby is brought into this world.

Last week I was honoured to be included with a couple who gave birth to twins.  They were 5LB,(wee boy) and 4.2 LB,(wee lassie) and born by C-Section.   I have been doing 12 hour shifts to help this wonderful couple settle in at home with their sweet, beautiful babies. I have never been busier or felt as more energized.

This is my explanation for a very short post this week.  My fingers and brain are no longer connected....  But to honour the twins I have chosen twin tea cups.

Thank you for dropping in to see me. Today will be quite informal but still a lovely time for a visit.  You are always welcome.  I will always have time to put the kettle on and sit a spell with you.  I would love to hear what is new in your world, whether it be tea, china, recipes, family or babies.

Wanda and I look forward to seeing what delightful posts you have created this week. I love to read your comments. If you have a moment please let me know you have stopped in.

I can watch a baby sleep for hours.
Their peaceful sleep reminds me of the peace and love we find in God's arm.

Matthew 18:2

For an answer Jesus called over a child, whom he stood in the middle of the room, and said, "I'm telling you, once and for all, that unless you return to square one and start over like children, you're not even going to get a look at the kingdom, let alone get in. Whoever becomes simple and elemental again, like this child, will rank high in God's kingdom. What's more, when you receive the childlike on my account, it's the same as receiving me.

TEAPOT AND TEA THINGS TUESDAY #4:

Welcome kind friends to the 4th,
 'TEAPOT AND TEA THINGS TUESDAY'!..,

I am so glad that you stopped by.  Find a comfy chair in the garden while I pour the tea and place some sweet treats on a pretty plate.

Wanda and I want to thank you all for your kind words and your beautiful contributions the last few weeks.  I have been humbled and inspired by each of your table settings, precious tea treasures and kind comments. It is wonderful to hear the sweet memories that some of you have shared surrounding your china.

I look forward to seeing your creative adventures in pictures this week.

I was inspired by the sunshine that we enjoyed this weekend and chose yellow to inspire my post. ( See Friday's post..."Two days of sun and I don't have to wear 2 layers of clothes, it was a fantastic weekend. If I have spent time with family and friends it was the best weekend".)

There aren't any special memories that I can recall connected to these cups.  I think they have come from at least 3 different family members. It's not where they came from that unites them but what they have in common (how they compliment each other.) I try to think the same way about family and friends. Its not what family we were born into but the relationships we cultivate between each of us and the way we inspire each other .

WORDS of WISDOM & SPIRITUAL SUNDAY

flickr/herbrokentoy.deviantart.com/

"Sometimes the tears we hold inside simply need to be cried out.
To release them is a gift to ourselves. I hope you love yourself enough to cry."
This quote is from my friend Kelita.

April showers do bring May flowers. The grey damp days of spring are not always welcome. Yet the freshness of the air after a rain is sweet with the fragrance of new life. There are times in our lives when we are living in a place where the stormy clouds foreshadow the torrents of raindrops to come. Lest we think it weak to cry we should think of tears as spring showers washing away the emotional snow and grime of winter, bringing the promise of new beginnings in our life.

Psalm 56: 8 & 9

You keep track of all my sorrows.[a]
You have collected all my tears in your bottle.
You have recorded each one in your book.
9 My enemies will retreat when I call to you for help.
This I know: God is on my side!

I am linking to Tracey's, Words of Wisdom at Notes from A Cottage Industry. Also to Spiritual Sundays. Thank you Tracey, Charlotte and Ginger for hostessing.

WEATHER PREDICTION ?

I am looking forward to this weekend.  How about you? Do you have any plans? In Canada, this is a long weekend.  As Canadians, we tend to be pre-occupied with the weather, but even more so when it is a 3 day weekend.

I am like the average, listening to the weather report and attempting to plan outings, picnics and gardening according to the weather.  Does it work?  Only if one is flexible... which of course goes contrary to the concept of planning.  With time I have developed a theory: If it doesn't snow, its been a good weekend. If it rains only one day, its been a great weekend. Two days of sun and I don't have to wear 2 layers of clothes, it was a fantastic weekend.  If I have spent time with family and friends it was the best weekend.

We can't rely on the weather to accommodate our plans any more than we can control the events in our lives.  But we can chose our attitude, set our priorities and focus on what is truly important in life.
Rain or shine, have the best weekend! God Bless your week to come.

The 3rd Teapot & Tea Things Tuesday

Welcome to the 3rd,

 'Teapot And Tea Things Tuesday'!..,

TRUE SKY BLUE TEA

Tea is almost ready. Do make your self comfortable.  The dainty scones are browning up in the oven.  I will put a grand dollop of creme fraiche in the  glass. Let's chat while I set out the dishes. How has your weather been since we last spoke?  Our weather has been so pleasant the last few days.  The sun has been warm and the sky blue, a true blue.  That inspired me to choose my petite blue teapot for this week, to share with you.  What did you use for your inspiration?
THIS IS A SHARED MEME WITH WANDA AT PLUMED PEN.

I am setting up tea on my luggage table.
I found these matching suitcases at a tag sale a number of years ago.  It didn't seem to have enough surface area so we found a piece of tempered glass to top it.

The tea set was a Christmas present from my son a few years ago.  He was undecided as to what I would like.  I think he figured it out just fine.

A funky martini glass to display creme fraiche centred on a small plate that will present the scones.
Or perhaps for lemon slices for the discerning taste buds.

The plate has been re-created from a china pattern from the Titanic.

Gold and White ~ How regal
The three sisters were found at an estate sale for $5.00 each
How could I resist?
It was challenging to find the right teacups to compliment the busy-ness of the blue floral pattern of the teapot.  The simplicity of the white and gold worked the best.

Teapot and Tea Things Tuesday

Due to some technical problems please drop in to the post below and register with Mr Linky.

I look forward to chatting with you.  Please leave a comment.

To Enter the 30st  Tuesday Tea for Two Contest go to the
Plumed Pen Blog  here

It is time to celebrate!!  My dear friend Wanda has masterfully created 53 blogs posts about the various aspects of tea. Please do pop over to visit her at Tuesday Tea for Two'   and 'Wednesday Tea For Me And Thee' @ The Plumed Pen.
With such an accomplishment as this I was compelled to polish my silver tea service, so we can celebrate in style. This special set has sentimental memories for me. The set was passed down from a dear family friend to my mom and now is in my care.

My mother had a very dear friend named Gladys. My mom lost her mother at age eight and Gladys had never had children. I suppose because Gladys was a few years senior to my mom that their relationship become one liken to mother and daughter. You can see how the relationship would be very special to them.

Gladys was a proper Scottish lady,
with a dry wit,  (always laughter in her home)
a love for classical literature (introduced me to Charles Dickens) and
loved the finer things of tea. (the china, good quality tea and eats)
I am sure she passed her passion for collecting dishes onto both my mom and me.

And so I ask you to imagine you hear the drone of the bagpipes in the distance as I  pay my respects to a grand lady from my past and  honour a cherished friend of the present.

My apologies for the lack of pictures. I have had challenges photographying the tea set.  I still have much to learn. I will post pictures as soon as I have something that does the it justice.  Don't forget to stop in later.

Meanwhile do visit Wanda and enjoy some of her past posts. The art work and vingettes are so creative.

Thank you for your pateince.  Here is the long awaited pictures.  Wish there were more.

Teapots and Tea Things

Psalms 139:13,14
13 For you created my inmost being;

you knit me together in my mother's womb.

14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

your works are wonderful,

I know that full well.
~

Proverbs 23:22 (The Message)

Buy Wisdom, Education, Insight

22-25 Listen with respect to the father who raised you,

and when your mother grows old, don't neglect her.

Buy truth—don't sell it for love or money;

buy wisdom, buy education, buy insight.

Parents rejoice when their children turn out well;

wise children become proud parents.

So make your father happy!

Make your mother proud!

The 1st Teapot And Tea Things Tuesday:

HONOURING GREAT WOMEN

Today is the perfect day to honour a few women, to express my gratitude to them for their contribution to my life.

I received my give-away from Mary at Hope Filled Living.  A precious book with inspirational quotes, scriptures and wonderful pictures.  I know I will go to it often to up lift my weary soul and to share these wonderful words to those around me, that may be in need too.  Thank you Mary for the gift of your friendship, kindness and your weekly writings.

You may think you are on a new blog...but my dearest friend, Wanda, has created a new banner for me.
Do you not love the fresh feel of the ocean breezes as they billow into my room?  My eyes popped wide open when I discovered it late last night.  So excited I could hardly sleep.

Wanda is one of the most creative people I know, as well as, one of my dearest friend. Miles may separate us but the loving fellowship we share on the phone and through our blogs is a precious gift God has blessed me with.

Among other things we share the love of the hunt for pretty pieces to add to our collections.  We happened upon two teacups, twin sisters, so to speak, on one of my visits.  We decided we must each have one and so started a new tradition of friendship teacups.

As my friend Wanda and I introduce a new meme,

'Teapot And Tea Things Tuesdsay'

I wondered which teapot to share with all of you and with Mother's Day quickly approaching I chose the oldest teapot I have.  It was my grandmother's.  A lady I never had the pleasure of meeting but through family stories and the china in her china cabinet I soon came to love the person she was.

Minnie Smith, was a farmer's wife, she organized a household of 10 children, plus hired hands,  a loving aunt and sister, a compassionate friend and a woman of God.  Seeing the gently loved tea set I know she took the time to share a cup of tea with family and friends and used her Sunday best when they came.

This is her tea set that has been handed down to me from an aunt. I don't remember seeing anyone pour tea from it.
What a shame.

The teapot lid and sugar lid are graced with tiny rosebuds.

The trivet displays the colours probably closer to the original.

Minnie's sister and husband were fortunate enough to travel in Europe and I wonder if they may have brought the tea set back to her?

The prettiest back drop for china is lace, don't you think?

I extend an invitation to you to share your favorite Teapot  and Tea Treasures, and the history behind them!..,

*If you want to join in the fun with our 1st,'Teapot and Tea Things Tuesday', here are the guidelines dear friends:
