Welome to the 8th, Teapot and Tea Things Tuesday:

COTTON CANDY BLOSSOMS

Mr Handsome has been consulting on the rewrite of our friend's web site.  Some of you have been introduced to singer, songwriter, Kelita, through "Spititual Sunday" and  "Weekly Words to Live By".  We are getting very excited as this project nears completion.  I will announce when her new site goes live. Kelita as also started to blog.

Kelita came to our door last week with a small box in her arms. She said it was for me, if I wished to have it.  Opening the box, what do you suppose I saw?... China and teacups!
No need to contemplate...I think my quick response may have startled her...yes I would love to include them in my circle of teacup friends!

These dishes hold treasured memories for both Kelita and myself as a child.
The tea set was her mother's when she first got married.  The soft pink blossoms of the trees reminded Kelita of cotton candy, when she was a child.

For me, my Aunt Orpha had but one teacup of this pattern and I loved how delicate and old fashioned it looked. It reminds me of "Anne of Green Gables", my favorite story book as a young girl.  As well, the blossoming trees remind me  of vacations spent with my dear friend, Wanda Lee, on the East Coast. The apple trees, in "The Valley", were in blossom last time I visited her. Oh what wonderful memories...

Kelita was performing out East a few years ago. I suggested that Wanda Lee would love her concert.  Wanda Lee was thrilled and had a chance to meet Kelita after the performance.  I think the three of us will enjoy a catching up over a virtual tea today... But of course, you are invited too!  Please join me as I unpack the box and create a tea with my new treasures.

meditating on it day and night.

Their leaves never wither,

Instead you thrill to God's Word, you chew on Scripture day and night. You're a tree replanted in Eden, bearing fresh fruit every month, Never dropping a leaf, always in blossom.

Spiritual Sundays& Weekly Words to Live By

 SPIRITUAL SUNDAYS
    and
        WEEKLY WORDS TO LIVE BY

God loves each of us as if there were

only one of us.

                                                             St. Augustine

I have been inspired by the multitude of unique flowers in my neighbors' gardens and the wildflowers along the wooded path behind our house these past few weeks.  A visual reminder that just as each flower is special individually and loved by God, so are we, even more so.  How blessed we are by God's ever bountiful creation and His love for us.

Luke 12:27 (NIV)
"Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.

Luke 12:27 (The Message)
25-28"Has anyone by fussing before the mirror ever gotten taller by so much as an inch? If fussing can't even do that, why fuss at all? Walk into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They don't fuss with their appearance—but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? The ten best-dressed men and women in the country look shabby alongside them. If God gives such attention to the wildflowers, most of them never even seen, don't you think he'll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you?

On Sunday,  I am linking to Spiritual Sundays.
Also to  Tracey's, Weekly Wordsto Live By at Notes from A Cottage Industry.
Thank you Charlotte and Ginger and Tracey,  for hostessing.

You are invited to join in. This is a wonderful way to start your week.

Have wonderful week and may you see God's hand in your life each day and feel His love for you.

The 7th Teapot And Tea Things Tuesday; How Does Your Garden Grow?

Welcome to the 7th,

Teapot and Tea Things Tuesday

God loves each of us as if there were
only one of us.
St. Augustine

I am constantly amazed by the delicate, intricate designs of the flowers in nature. How many different hues of color on each petal. What a miracle each and every plant is! be it prolific or rare, each with its own unique fragrance and qualities.  Just like us. How incredibly awesome God's imagination must be!

So this tea is to honour the gardeners in our midst. Those of you who have a passion for all things living and green, outdoors and in. Those compassionate souls who nurture seedlings and cuttings; water, fertilize and tug out the weeds with determination, from the damp cool days of spring to the dog days of summer. To you I want to say thank you. Thank you for the multi coloured gardens that speak to my soul. Thank you for being such great stewards of God's paint brushes and assisting the master in creating such awe inspiring splendor. I savor the stimulus it gives my senses in sight, smell and wellbeing as I walk by your tended gardens. It is a gift you share with those looking over your fences and this is my note of appreciation.

And so I was inspired to choose tea treasures with delicate flowers from my china cabinet to share with you, this week. I do hope you have a moment to sit, chat and rest over a cup of tea.  Warm scones from the oven, butter and fresh strawberry rhubarb jam .
Simple and simlpy delicious, because I am sharing them with such good friends.  You can tell me how your garden is growing.

The table is being set...

My mom always had an embroidery project
on the go. Don't you agree, she did beautiful work.
I look forward to showing more of them in future posts.

I felt the need for an all white teapot.
I thought it wouldn't distract from the other floral china.
I am sure it will be used for many other occasions.
Homesense $14.99

Cornflower cream and sugar,
just like my Aunt Orpha's.
Depression glass dish for either
lemon slices or rose-shaped butter pats.

Cake stand for the scones and
a creamer with a spoon for the jam.

Which one would you like?

Or maybe one of these?

Some how all colours go together in a garden.

My friend Edith made these before she moved away.
How I miss Edith and her creative spirit.
Three or four on top of white sugar cubes add a
sweet touch of colour.

Just fo fun.

It has been a pleasure to spend time with you.  Always feel so honoured when my friends take the time to drop in. Hope you feel refreshed and ready to resume your projects in the garden.

Wanda and I would love to know who has dropped in.
Please sign in the guest book with a comment.  We are excited to see what your favorite tea treasure is this week.

6th TEAPOT AND TEA THINGS TUESDAY

K~I~S~S-ed

Welcome to the 6th
TEAPOT AND TEA THINGS TUESDAY

It is so good to have you drop by again this week.  Did you have a busy weekend?  Are you ready for a wee rest?  The chairs on the deck are ready for you.  Settle yourself down while I put the kettle on to boil. We can catch up on what has been happening in our lives.

My week was busy helping the new mom with the twins every day(see last week's post).  No time to get organized for house guests and prepare food.  There was a time when this would have pushed me over the edge: I would have been cranky, tense and miserable by the time the luggage started coming in the door.  Little joy over the occasion at hand and not too welcoming to the weary travellers.

There is a time to intentionally keep life simple.  This was one of them for me.  I have learnt that people are always more important than things.  Warm, happy memories were to be the souvenirs for our guests to take abroad.

So, my weekend was filled to the brim with excitement and joy. Cousins from Germany stayed with us for three days.  The last time we saw them was 30 years ago.  Can you imagine the long conversations over tea, (and occasionally over wine) as we caught up on every thing from grown up children, moving to new homes, businesses to the minutia of daily life.  Time was so precious and there was so much to talk about that I did not want to spend too much time in the kitchen preparing or fussing. I intentionally kept the menu simple and the table setting casual.  I set the table with mixed matched black and white dishes, some floral while others are geometric.  All bought over the last couple of years on sale. They looked quite dramatic on white place mats with red napkins. I lit the candles and put on the music.

This time it was not elegant, but it was
K~I~S~S -ed.  Keeping it simple and stylish, my style.

How do you keep your entertaining simple when you are pressed for time?

Weekly Words To Live By & Spiritual Sunday

A babe in the house is a well-spring of pleasure, a messenger of peace and love, a resting place for innocence on earth, a link between angels and men." Martin Fraquhar Tupper

Matthew 18:2
For an answer Jesus called over a child, whom he stood in the middle of the room, and said, "I'm telling you, once and for all, that unless you return to square one and start over like children, you're not even going to get a look at the kingdom, let alone get in. Whoever becomes simple and elemental again, like this child, will rank high in God's kingdom. What's more, when you receive the childlike on my account, it's the same as receiving me.

On Sunday, I am linking to Tracey's, Words of Wisdom at Notes from A Cottage Industry.
Also to Spiritual Sundays. Thank you Tracey, Charlotte and Ginger for hostessing.

Have wonderful week and may you see God's hand in your life each day.

Glass display case

The two cupboards at each end of the hutch
I wonder what is in those packages.....my mom's good china
Between them four drawers, full.

I love vintage suitcases
They provide an unusual display surface and storage beneath

I collect orphaned cream pitchers for storage.
Do you know what this prett is hoding?

Mismatched??
I think they compliment each other, just like we should.
In the bathroom

This is a corner in my kitchen.
Always for company dropping in for tea and a pretty vignette to brighten a dull corner.

And on the wall
In the guest room.

Celebrate all your victories, in Him who gives us the strength and talents to do His work.
